What do I do if I am in quarantine or self-isolation and my pet requires euthanasia?
If you are in quarantine, do not break quarantine to take your pet to the veterinarian even if your pet requires euthanasia. By doing this you will put your vet and their staff at risk of infection. Ring your regular veterinary clinic or Paws at Peace first and ask for advice.
If you need Dr Amy to attend your home and euthanise your pet, please let us know that you are under quarantine when you make your appointment.
If you are quarantined Dr Amy will need to wear appropriate protective equipment which will include disposable gloves and a mask. It will be necessary for all parties present to practice social distancing of at least 1.5 metres during the visit.
If you have any other concerns about your pet, please ask Dr Amy.

Stage 4 Restrictions
- Due to the recently announced Stage 4 restrictions Dr Amy will not be able to come into your home if you have tested positive to CoVid-19.
- Dr Amy requests that during the visit, all family members over 12 who are able to wear a mask, please wear a mask.
- Please inform Dr Amy if you are waiting for CoVid-19 test results or have been in contact with ANY person who is waiting for test results or is self-isolating after a suspected contact with a person who may have CoVid-19.
Does CoVid-19 pose a risk to my pet?
The Australian Veterinary Association has advised that there is no evidence that companion animals become sick with COVID-19 and certainly no evidence that companion or other animals are involved in the spread of the disease.
Wash your hands regularly and especially before and after touching animals, and before eating and drinking (if unable to wash, use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser).
Try to refrain from touching your face. Avoid close contact with other people – don’t shake hands or kiss in greeting. Always sneeze or cough into a tissue and then discard the tissue into a bin.
